Testicular/Scrotal Ultrasound


 

WHAT IS IT?
Ultrasound imaging of the scrotum is the primary imaging method used to evaluate disorders of the testicles.

I AM COMING IN FOR THIS TEST WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
The ultrasound technologist will use a transducer and gel to take pictures of your scrotum and testicles. You will need to lie still on your back for 20-30 minutes.

INDICATIONS:
--determine whether a mass in the scrotum felt by the patient or doctor is cystic or solid
--diagnose results of trauma to the scrotal area
--diagnose caused of testicular pain or swelling such as inflammation or torsion.

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR THIS TEST?
There is no preparation for this test.
