ABDOMINAL ULTRASOUND/GALLBLADDER (IF YOU ARE HAVING AN ABDOMEN AND PELVIS TOGETHER FOLLOW OTHER INSTRUCTIONS FOR THOSE TWO TESTS TOGETHER!)**
WHAT IS IT?
This test is done to evaluate the organs in your abdomen, such as gallbladder, pancreas, liver, spleen.
I AM COMING IN FOR THIS TEST WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
The technologist will put gel on your abdomen and us a transducer to take pictures. You may be asked to lie on your back and/or side for this test. It will take 20-30 minutes.
INDICATIONS:
ABDOMINAL PAIN
ELEVATED LIVER FUNCTION TESTS (LAB)
NAUSEA
VOMITING
JAUNDICE
HOW DO I PREPARE FOR THIS TEST?
Do not eat or drink anything past midnight.
PELVIC ULTRASOUND (IF YOU ARE HAVING AN ABDOMEN AND PELVIS TOGETHER FOLLOW THE OTHER INSTRUCTIONS FOR THOSE TWO TEST TOGETHER!**
WHAT IS IT?
This test is done to evaluate the organs in your pelvis, such as bladder and ovaries.
I AM COMING IN FOR THIS TEST WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
The technologist will put gel on your lower abdomen and use a transducer to take pictures. The test will take approximately 20-30 minutes if you have a full bladder.
INDICATIONS:
Lower abdomen (pelvic) pain
Ovarian cysts
HOW DO I PREPARE FOR THIS TEST?
Drink at least 1 quart of water 1 hour before you come in for the test. DO NOT EMPTY YOUR BLADDER! You may eat before this test.
**ABDOMEN/PELVIC ULTRASOUND DONE AT THE SAME TIME
If your doctor has ordered an abdomen and pelvis to be done at the same time, please follow these instructions: DO NOT EAT ANYTHING AFTER MIDNIGHT! DRINK 1 QUART OF WATER 1 HOUR BEFORE YOU COME IN FOR THE TEST! DO NOT EMPTY YOUR BLADDER! IT MUST BE FULL FOR THE TEST!
