Liver Scan


 

WHAT IS IT?
A liver scan is a nuclear medicine diagnostic procedure to evaluate the liver for suspected disease.

I AM COMING IN FOR THIS TEST WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
A small amount of radioactive material will be injected into your vein and 20-30 minutes after the injection pictures of your liver will be taken. You will need to lie on your back on a table for 30 minutes to 1 hour. While you are on the table several pictures of your liver will be taken.

INDICATIONS:
Abnormal Blood Studies
Masses or Tumors of the liver
Cirrhosis of the liver
Hepatitis
Injury

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR THIS TEST?
There is no preparation for this test.
